Maya Eventov Biography

Maya Eventov was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), USSR in 1964. She began her training at a very young age where she spent countless hours studying the fascinating works of the great masters of the Post-Impressionists and the Russian Avant-Garde.

Eventov graduated from the Leningrad High College of Art and began her career illustrating children’s books and creating wallpaper design. She participated in creating murals for concert halls in Moscow, Leningrad, Erevan, and Komsomolsk-na-Amure.

Eventov immigrated to Canada in 1990 where her impasto style evolved to reflect the security and happiness she has found in North America. She utilizes the rich, bold and bright colors of the Mediterranean and has developed her unique technique of etching on oil having inspired by the Faberge Eggs that fascinated her as a child. Eventov resides with her husband and two children.
