Americo Ccala Biography

Born in Cuzco, Peru, in 1964, Ccala was interested in painting, and, specifically, in landscape painting since he was 6 years old. Son of an artisan, Ccala helped his father in his craft since he was 3 years old. From such a young experience he developed a sense of discipline and commitment to artwork. When he was 10 years old, Ccala could be found frequently at the ateliers of the best artists of Cuzco.

Ccala studied painting at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Lima and finished in an unusual short period of 5 years. Despite strong opposition during his years at school, Ccala continue to paint landscapes and developed a handsome technique. He has applied his attention to detail learned in his landscape painting into his very popular abstract works. Ccala’s paintings are in the most important art collections of Peru, having been shown at the most exclusive galleries
